Award Categories for MIMA 2020
Now in their eighth year, the 2020 MIMAs have undergone a refresh with the introduction of four new categories.
This year’s ceremony is set to be even bigger, with more categories, opportunities and chances for Manchester’s young business community to shine.
Entries are free and will open on Monday 2nd September 2019, closing on Friday 15th November. Entries can be submitted directly by individuals who wish to enter, or by their colleagues/clients/peers. Permission must be sought before nominating a colleague, client or peer.

Apprentice of the Year
This category is aimed at an outstanding individual who has/is currently serving or has completed an apprenticeship in the last year and has demonstrated an ability to go above and beyond their job role to have a positive impact on their business.
This award is for the best business development professional within the Greater Manchester region who can demonstrate excellent proficiency in searching for new business, where the role is predominantly focused on new business generation.
This award will be judged by pro-manchester Chair, Jenn Hazelhurst, partner, EY; Future pro-manchester Chair, Hannah Johnson of Carter Corson Business Psychologists along with our headline sponsor. The winner of this award will be chosen from a shortlist made up of the winners from the individual categories. This award will be given to an individual who has proven their potential to be a future leader.
This award is for the best young digital or creative professional within the Greater Manchester region, technically and commercially.
This award is for the best entrepreneur within the Greater Manchester region who has demonstrated significant success in business over the past 12 months.
This award is for those that have made a remarkable contribution to the financial services industry. This covers the breadth of the finance sector from accountants, bankers, wealth management and financial advisers and brokers within the Greater Manchester region.
This award is for the best banking, lending services, private equity / venture capital professionals, or other funders within the Greater Manchester region.
Graduate of the Year
This category is aimed at an outstanding individual who is currently serving or has completed a graduate or trainee program in the last year and has demonstrated an ability to go above and beyond their job role to have a positive impact on their business.
This award is for young professionals working in human resources, people development, training and consultancy. It is open to consultancy, agency and individuals working in the HR departments of businesses.
Lawyer of the Year
This award is for the best young lawyer within the Greater Manchester region. This award recognises individuals from solicitors to barristers, legal executives to patent attorneys and in-house lawyers that have made an exceptional contribution to the profession.
Marketing Professional of the Year
This award is for the best young PR, advertising and/or marketing services professional that positively and effectively enhances a brand or organisation. It is open to anyone working in a marketing role, either in-house, agency or private business.
This award is for the best young personal assistant or executive assistant who has excelled in their role. Applicants for this award must show initiative and demonstrate their responsibilities, duties and skills.
Property Professional of the Year
This award is for the best young property professional within the Greater Manchester region. Including agents, surveyors, architects, project managers and developers, property consultants, letting and sales agents, and those involved in commercial, global and domestic property sales.
Recruitment Professional of the Year
This award is for young professionals working in recruitment. It is open to agency and in-house individuals working in the recruitment departments of businesses.
NEW FOR 2020: Technology Professional of the Year
This award is open to individuals who plan, design, develop, implement or manage a technology based function in-house department, agency or private business. This includes people in product/service development, R&D, digital communication, web planning/design/development, mobile development, network architecture and management
